ModelBuilder - carry new lines over from properties to metadata

In ArcGIS Pro a model's description entered in the Properties box appears as the summary in the metadata. However, new lines appear as spaces. It would be great if either the formatting (e.g. returns) would carry over, and/or the same rich text editing experience appeared in the Properties box, too.

Strangely, once an edit is made to the summary within the Edit Metadata box, they're no longer connected -- edits made there do not appear in properties, and edits made in properties do not appear in the metadata.
