How to get dynamic text to show domain code instead of description?

I am using Dynamic Text in Data Driven Pages to pull an attribute for units. The codes are LF, SF, GAL, SY and the descriptions would then be Linear Foot, Square Foot, Gallon, Square Yard. By default, the text that is returned is the description. Is there a way to get it to show the domain code instead? I've tried using the Domain and Domaincode funtions but haven't had any luck.

Will entering the same text you have in description in the code column work for you?

That would work but I would prefer not to do that as it would mess us the survey and other maps.

Maybe a lookup table for that as a work-around until your enhancement request is implemented.
