I created a point feature class and want to contour the points based off of subsurface depths I have input into the "text data type" field. Is there anyway to generate contours without having z-values?

In the point feature must be present the z values to make a contour or use 3D analyst/spatial analyst

Hi Michael,

The sub-surface depths that you entered, can be used as the z-value. USe the Field's datatype as DOUBLE.

First create a DEM using the z-field of point layer.

Topo to Raster—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

Then, create isolines (contours) from the above DEM.
