ArcGIS Server Virtualization: Dos and Don'ts 

I stumbled upon the link above and wondered if it's still relevant? It is dated 2011 and there might be newer information available, also including the entire ArcGIS Enterprise?

I know there are lot of info regarding Azure and Amazon hosting, but what if you want run your own? The BLOG above is pretty simple and easy to understand.
