Hello after I did my Masters in 2012 due to various personal reasons couldn't work. Now I am trying to get back into the GIS field because I love to be in that field. I had about a little over 5 years experience and I am constantly updating myself on ESRI website for various courses. I need a little guidance how to get into the job market and prove myself that I am capable of doing something. Please help me in this regard. I would like to know the pathway that I should take.
Kindly help
Thanks
VJ
Hi VJ, glad to hear you're finding your way back into the GIS field! There are already some great threads in Esri Community that you'll want to check out:
Make sure to subscribe to the Esri Young Professionals Network area of Esri Community, along with Learning, Esri Training, and GIS Jobs.
You've come to a great place to help you get your footing and move forward in your career. Best of luck!
Also, if you want to practice with the latest version of the software, you can get an ArcGIS for Personal Use license and work through free Esri Tutorials.

Does your past experience involve automation to some type of scripting/development language? If not, I would try to gain those types of skills.
There was probably no AI back then and now that is the hot topic everywhere including GIS. I would try to gain those skills.
