Tacoma Power's Generation team is looking to add a member to our team who is amazing with data and great at building relationships across the organization. The Sr. Data Analyst is responsible for all aspects of planning, completing and translating complex analytical and statistical studies to support and inform decision making in Generation. This position serves as the analytics expert overseeing development of Analytics capabilities within Natural Resources and supporting those capabilities within Generation. 

In this position the analytical information collected through studies will be used to translate complex analytical and statistical information into easily understood stories by internal and external non-technical audiences and help the organization achieve operational excellence. This position also supports data management associated with the Natural Resources Budget as well as managing a GIS platform to serve the Natural Resources Team. In addition, this position supports cross-functional committees with the goal of establishing and adopting best practices for our data resources and analytics which will guide business decisions and strategy. In this role you will supervise two technicians and one intern who will be tasked with supporting data analytics, budget and GIS needs within Natural Resources and Generation as well as teaching these skills for self-service users.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop models that integrate methods from mathematics, statistics, probability and uncertainty modeling in order to deliver insights to decision-makers which indirectly influences cost of production.
  • Lead the design and development of critical metrics, reports, analysis and dashboards, etc. to drive key strategy and business decisions resource utilization within Generation.
  • Contribute as a member of a cross-functional committee dedicated to recognizing and adopting best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
  • Contribute and participate in Generation's Strategy Management efforts, including consulting on lagging and leading metric development for strategic objectives and initiatives. 
  • Lead Natural Resources staff and consultants participating in the field of data analytics to develop consistency within the discipline and organize project management plans to ensure accountability and delivery across projects.
