Hello everyone!

My name is Vivian and I am a 23-year-old GIS professional based in Pennsylvania outside of Philly. I hold a bachelor's degree from Penn State in Geography, however I have only really gotten to explore the world of GIS recently as an Environmental Scientist/GIS Analyst at my current firm. I love the diversity of interests that GIS caters towards and the continual opportunity for education and growth, as I am constantly finding new tricks and ways to best utilize the software. As of late, I have enjoyed finding ways to intertwine my love for environmental justice and policy with GIS mapping by visualizing the data I have been researching and writing about. I am looking forward to connecting with more likeminded individuals! 🙂

Welcome, Vivian — great to have you here. Your path from environmental science into applied GIS is a strong one, and the way you’re using mapping to support environmental justice and policy is exactly where GIS makes real impact. Keep leaning into that intersection of data, storytelling, and advocacy — it’s a powerful space to grow in. Looking forward to seeing your work and discussions in the community.
