Does Pineapple Belong on Pizza...?
A life question that rivals even that of the likes of "Who shot first?" in Star Wars. Or even that found in life and philosophy that ask: "What is the key to happiness and success?"
Now that I have gotten that question out of the way, my name is Kevin, I am a graduate student working on my M.S in Environmental, Earth, and Geospatial Science. Over the past two years I have had the opportunity to conduct GIS-related research, and I hope to learn and grow from GIS Community Spaces.
Currently, I am working on getting more experience with GIS & remote sensing projects, and hoping to get my Remote Pilot Certificate by the time I graduate next year.
One question that I would like to ask the GIS Pros, GIS Fanatics, and even those new to GIS:
What is one or what are a few things that you would recommend as a foundational skill or value to develop success in the GIS field?
For example, a few things I have learned along the way and that I would like to pass on are:
- Build up your portfolio and keep it updated the same you would your resume
- In between the work-life or school-life balance, find fun GIS projects that can you build and develop yourself
I look forward to hearing back from others. Thank you for your time and help, and I hope you continue to grow and learn in your own GIS journey.
