Hi,
I’m interested in preparing for the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript Associate 2026 exam and would like some guidance on how to study effectively.
What topics should I focus on, and what level of depth is expected (core API concepts vs. hands-on implementation)? Are there any recommended learning paths or resources?
Additionally, should I prioritize working with the latest API version and real-world app development scenarios? Would reviewing sample applications and documentation be sufficient preparation?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi @IbrahimSaad74 Our Esri Exam Preparation Resources article details some resources that we have available. To answer some of your questions, the topics you should focus on would be the tasks listed under Candidate Qualifications, as well as the objectives listed out under Skills Measured. In the Skills Measured section, we assign percentages to each section that indicate how much of the exam is focused on that section (this is determined by candidates through a Blueprint Survey). You will be able to see this on the 2024 version of this exam here, however the 2026 version has not started development, so we won't have those percentages listed until Q4 of this year. As far as versions go, we have that outlined in the EIG under 'A qualified candidate should be familiar with the following.' Again, this is updated for the 2024 version but we have not updated the 2026 yet.
Exam preparation is really a balance between combining experience with information from many resources. I hope this helps and good luck on your exam!
