Question on creating association

Hello Community,

I am newbie in working with Electric GIS utility network.

While going through association concept I do understand that it can be created using Modify association Panel, however I am unable to understand the functionality clearly.

Can anyone help me with any kind of Esri tutorials or videos that can give clarity on creation of associations.

Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Hi Charlotte,

An association defines the relationship between two data objects - without creating a physical feature/object. Those relationships can be connectivity - in which case electricity will flow from one object to another; or if it's attachment - then the relationship it establishes is that one feature is attached - physically - to the other, even if that relationship is not apparent from the physical features. Attachment will not allow flow of electricity between objects in the data model. 

This is a picture I snagged a few years ago from ESRI: 

The associations are those purple/pink lines; not physically drawn in the data model but define relationships between objects.
