Hi,

We manage a small municipal electrical network using Utility Network (UN) Version 4 on Enterprise Geodatabase 10.8. With no immediate upgrade plans, I've successfully created a local file geodatabase using an asset package and UN Version 7. I'm now evaluating whether to continue development in the Enterprise environment or switch to the local file geodatabase. Is supporting multiple users the primary advantage of the Enterprise Utility Network, or are there other significant benefits?

Thanks!

@DLee - supporting multiple users is a one of the advantage of using Enterprise Geodatabase.
Other advantages include - archiving, versioning, historical views.

The key one in my opinion is being able to publish a UN service/services that can be used across the business - maps, apps, ExB, reporting etc. WebGIS is very important to us because not all people feel comfortable using ArcGIS Pro. We also use these services for automations and other ETL processes.

But I understand that the organization size can be a slight limitation.
You can go down that localGDB route If you can somehow manage packaging of maps and sharing those with the users. Not sure if you are considering a "central" localgdb that all projects point to?

You will have to be able to co-ordinate edit sessions if you have multiple editors.

You could possibly have a combination of localGDB and AGOL for webmaps without tracing, etc.

It's not a simple answer unfortunately and depends on your use case and business goals. Happy to bounce ideas if required.
