Hey everyone! Thanks for setting this group up. I'm fairly new to the electric utility world and am eager to meet folks in this industry. I was actually at the SIG last week at the UC and really enjoyed the discussion. Hopefully some of those conversations can continue here, if we can get some more folks involved.

At our company, which is a G&T company owned by members of our electric cooperative, we're looking at Utility Network for managing our Transmission System data. Do you guys know of anyone involved in G&T only that has had experience migrating to Utility Network? Most of the presentations on UN last week seemed to be targeted primarily at Gas and Electric Distribution. Just trying to see if this model works well in a G&T environment. Looking forward to hearing from yall!

Hi Clayton,

We have just set this community up. I will be getting the names of the folks who participated in the Transmission SIG. I will have invite them, since this is a closed group. So we don't have many members yet. I To your observation, you are correct, transmission companies have been slower to migrate to the UN, but I'm expecting an uptick this year and next. We are working on a new initiative to update our Business Value of the Utility Network technical paper with input from UN specialty partners - this should help.

Hi Clayton

We are also a G&T only and are exploring options to migrate to UN. We are looking to use the electric UN model as a start but anticipating that we will likely have to modify it to fit our needs. We are also looking at trying to develop the model so it's as close to CIM compliant as possible or develop a tool to import export CIM compliant models as a way to share data with EMS and planning models. We are just in the beginning stages of road mapping out the migration. It would be good to share our experiences on this site.

Thank Jeff. As we discussed I have been heavily involved with EPRI on with the grid model data management initiative which has a heavy involvement with CIM. John Alsup of Esri is working with CIM as well in relation to the UN. When you are ready, we could have a Teams call about this.

Hi @Clayton-Cooley  welcome to the G&T Community and this user group! Happy to discuss any questions you have with respect to the Utility Network as it pertains to G&T. Are there any specific things you were hoping to get more information about or gain insight into with respect to the Utility Network?
