Hi folks. Im looking for assistance/advice regarding using a point cloud for a specific object detection task, identifying large eagles nests in tree canopies for an environmental assessment. Aerial lidar and hi definition images to be captured and PPK processed. Im assuming that a Lidar point cloud would handle this better than photogrammetry raster which I propose to use for the manual verification after the AI process has occurred. I can see the work that has been undertaken by the esri team re power line & railway extraction which is of a similar nature. I am hoping that a large dense mass in a tree canopy might present as a reasonable target. I have found it difficult to locate people to undertake this type of software design work other than researchers/ academics or software providers such as esri. Any advice and recommendations greatly appreciated.
