Within ArcGIS Server it would be great if you could publish a compliant map service directly as one which could be used within an Augmented Reality application such as Layar in the same way you would create a Feature Service, WMS service, KML service etc.
This would assist in using ArcGIS Server as a great enabler for this technology. It would extend the Esri enterprise in to new mobile applications beyond ArcGIS Mobile.
The service should be able to be consumed through an Augmented Reality application on a mobile device: windows, iOS or Android. The publishing process would be able to check that the data and service conforms to the requirements of the augmented reality service definition in a similar way to the Map Service Publishing tools.
