Does anyone know what the default reclassification scheme is for the Reclassify tool, when you have a raster symbolized using a gradient? When you drag a file in, it creates 255 bins. But, when I try to replicate the bins using one of the schemes in the drop-down menu, I can't seem to find one that corresponds. I wasn't able to locate any info on this, and can't find the system folder where I might check/alter this. Thoughts??
Along similar lines, I am struggling to rationalize reclassification choices for severely right-skewed data. The goal is to reclassify while maintaining as much of a gradient/pseudo gradient as possible, and to be able to compare composite habitat suitability models with disparate data. That is, I could compare models that had 0-100 scales defined by equal intervals, but not by Jenk's optimization - since the classes are based on variability within each dataset. It seems that unless I group outliers with much lower values, when I isolate "top" ranking habitat, I end up with virtually no suitable area. I've been around the block on this one, and feel like I am bashing my head against a wall. I would love to hear any clever, statistically sound, or simple-yet-overlooked approaches that I might try.
Thanks,
HG
