Hi folks,

In my dataset (Excel format) there is a field containing some the Start time of the field work and the end time of the field work.
After I geocoded, all the time becomes 12:00AM and the field property had shown the field type as Date.

To deal with this problem, I went back to the excel sheet and added 3 extra field each with a different time format -
(1) h:mm AM/PM (2) h:mm:ss AM?PM (3) h:mm (4) H:mm:ss. Unfortunately, none of these worked after Geocoded. They all became 12:00AM in the Time field.

Anyone know to solution to this? Thank you in Advance!

Best Regards,

Jason

Jason,

What excel version, software version, service pack, and locator are you using?

I've seen this issue pop up every now and then over the past few years but in a few tests this morning I couldn't reproduce the issue that you're seeing.  I was using Excel 2010 (.docx) and 10.0 SP3 with the online 10.0 North American Geocode Service locator.  While some of the formatting did switch a little bit depending on the initial format of the time, it never changed to 12:00AM.

What I did find was that the string field of the excel table always switched to a date type except on one occasion.  If you put AM or PM immediately adjacent to the time it will keep the the field type as string.

Such as:

1:35AM
4:50PM

Does formatting your time this way change the outcome?  I'll also be interested to hear the answers to my initial question.

Thanks.
