Shapefile to LAS

I have lidar data that has been converted into a shapefile, I am not able to get the original data just a shapefile.  However I need to work with the data in the LAS format. 

Is there a way to convert a shapefile back into LAS??

Unfortunately, there are no tools to convert data from a shapefile to LAS format in ArcGIS 10.0.
