SDE Connections Client Machine Name

When viewing SDE connections, the computer sometimes has ":10.2.2.1089" or ":10.2.2.1087" appended to the end. Anyone know what that is about. I'm on ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.2 and SDE 10.0.

In arcpy.ListUsers(), it's the ClientName property. In the SDE.PROCESS_INFORMATION table, it's the NODENAME field. In Geodatabase Administration, it's the Client Machine value.

It looks like Only the Direct Connects have it; Application Server connections are regular. Does anyone know what is this extra stuff is and if there is a way to make it go away?
