Resizing CAD text

Hello,

I am new to using ArcMap and I am looking for some help. I have created a .dwg with only text features in it. I have added this .dwg to ArcMap as a layer file. The text does show up, however it seems to be at a fixed size. I need to be able to increase the size of my text to make it legible for it appears very small when printed. What would be the best way to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Hola Darrick,

In looking into this within ArcMap, I don't see any options to change the font size of the annotation layer. Unless you want to symply convert this into a Annotation Feature Class inside of a geodatabase. This would be the only method to alter the data or display in this fashion, outside of this the Annotation isn't possible to display it's font size within ArcMap. Gracias, Darrick!

If we are talking about resizing text on a CAD annotation layer, it can be done. But the changes to the font are not always obeyed. Sometimes the font will change, other times it will not. The image of the dialog below shows where the font controls are.

Could this be related?

This issue has been around in ArcMap as long as I can remember.

Hi,

I just tried this too and i found it is possible to resize the CAD anotations on ArcMAp. But in this case what I did was to convert the card files to feature classes in a Geodatabase and then use editor function to view and resize the anotation to any size and color of my choice.

How you do it is this way:
open the layer in arcmap, activate the 'Editor' toolset and, click on the annotation feature class and  select attributes tab on the editor window, you will see the the current font and choices you can make in terms of changing color, and font size. Ensure that your cursor is on the attribute you want to change .

CAD files are read-only in ArcGIS. If you need to change CAD text size, you must first convert it to a geodatabase annotation class.
This topic might help you:

This page explains how to prepare CAD data before loading it into a geodatabase.
