Just installed a trial version of 10.2 with Spatial Analyst extension pack to try to solve this, but the problem persists.
I would like to edit a raster. Even though I can right-click on the item in the Table of Contents and "Start Editing", I have found no combination of clicks, dialogues, menus or magic spells that will allow me to use the Raster Painting Toolbar. I have tried invoking the tool alone, and again from within the ArcScan tool. Nothing.
NOR can I find anything other than the most basic of instructions, which suggest that no one else has ever had this problem.
Moreover, I can't find any information that tells me why some rasters are editable and others are not (e.g. the "Start Editiing" choice is grayed out when I right-click on some items and select "Edit Features").
Any help on either of these problems would be appreciated enormously.
