raster layer disappears at small scales

Hello,

I am having the opposite problem of what I've read in most posts - when I zoom out (smaller scale than 1:13,938,730 to be exact), my raster imagery disappears. Anything larger than that, I can see it. I'm using ArcMap v10 with the 2 service packs and the raster patch. My file is the Travel Time Accessibility file from: http://bioval.jrc.ec.europa.eu/products/gam/download.htm. It is a GRID format. I've tried re-projecting, re-downloading, saving as another shape file, and the problem is consistent no matter what I do.

Help would be very much appreciated!!

I tested the downloaded data as well and had the same experience.  Rebuilding raster statistics did not help.  What worked is exporting it to a new GRID and voila, it worked.

Hope this helps!

The issue is with the pyramids.  The rrd file that comes with the data is only 86.3 MB.  I changed the name of the rrd file and rebuilt the pyramids at 10 (using the Build Pyramids tool), and the resulting ovr file is 157 MB.  Once the pyramids were re-built, the raster displayed correctly at all scales.
