quick question on annotation and replication

Hello,

We tried to find the info to address this in help; however, no luck so far:

- We are replicating a dataset from SDE to a FGDB.

- We add the entire dataset to ArcMap and go through the create replica wizard

- We choose 'simple' data since the 'advanced' option specifies that versioning is required for the child replica (which a FGDB doesn't support).

- We do select to bring all related data; however, when the replica is created all the annotation layers are skipped.

Does replication support feature linked annotation? If yes, does it require the child replica to be an SDE gdb?

Thanks in advance,

Jess

Hi Jess,

Yes, geodatabase replication supports feature-linked annotation and should work with File geodatabases as the child replica.

Replication and related data

Q) What ArcGIS release are you using? and have you installed all the related patches and service packs? There were several related to geodatabase replication released.

Patches and Service Packs for ArcGIS Server
(do a search for replication)

Hope this helps,

Also - make sure you specify a ONE-WAY replica if you are using a FileGDB as your child replica. Two-way replication requires that both Parent and child gdbs are SDE geodatabases, this is likely where you were getting confused.
