I have a shapefile of roads. I wanted to publish them on an open source server. Can anyone help me in knowing that how to do it.

I suggest you take a look at ArcGIS Online Plans | ArcGIS for Developers. It includes a free developer account you can used to serve your shapefile without needing to install any software or have a server.
