Problems when using pan-sharpen on a Landsat image

Hello,
I have many Landsat images downloaded of a Norwegian glacier, I've combined the bands of the images into both a real colour combination and one good for differentiating between glacier ice and rock. I want to use the pan-sharpen tool to increase the resolution and allow me to see from different images how the glacier has changed over the years. I have tried using pan-sharpen from the Arc toolbox which results in a message stating that the process failed. I have also tried using pan-sharpen from the symbology tab, when I do this the layer I am working on simply vanished.

What am I doing wrong? I can't understand why this isn't working.

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,

what parameters are you using when you pansharpen your image? Generally pan-sharpening works on landsat scenes. When you composited your landsat multispectral data, how many bands did you give it (3 or 4 or ...)?
If you have ArcGIS 10 you can use the image analysis window on the layers in ArcMap.
Do both of your layers line up in ArcMap (the multispectral and the pansharpened dataset)?
