Hi All,

I have tried to use the ??Define Projection tool? in ArcGIS v10 to define the correct projection for the geophysical/magnetic image provided in Geosoft Grid format. The tool ??seems? to define the projection ??without problem?, as the process was completed successfully. However, the projection that has been defined are ??not stored? with the Grid file.

I have used ArcGIS v9.3 to define the projection for these images without any problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Emliy

Has this problem solved yet?
We are facing the exact same problem.

Have logged a support query with Geosoft Australia. Have not heard back from them.

Thanks

Resolved this finally!

To project the geosoft grid with it's native Georeferencing Information (*.GI) you will need Target for ArcGIS. Try projecting the Geosoft Grid using:

- Target Surface menu > Grid Properties.
- Browse to the grid file
- Click next
- Modify
- CoordSys
- Select your Coordinate system, datum and projection
- Ok

This should create a *.GI file which goes with your grid file.
I hope this helps. If not, contact your nearest Geosoft Technical Support Representative.
