Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me learn how to correctly create geotiffs from georeferenced .jpgs and .tifs. I have already spent many days georeferencing these images using the georeferencing toolbar on ArcGIS 10 with SP 4, and I need to turn the georeferenced images into geotiffs.
I've tried using GDAL_translate to create geotiffs from the .jpgs. However, the resultant geotiff is shifted and warped. More information is here.
As for the .tif files, when my colleague clicks "update georeferencing," his computer automatically turns the georeferenced .tif into a geotiff. My computer does not do this, and I'm trying to figure out how to make a geotiff file from the georeferenced .tif. (My colleague doesn't have a service pack installed. I am using SP4. This is the only software difference we can find.)
