I have arcmap 10.5 standard license. A lot of data that is given to me is a shapefile of polylines representing power lines and shapefiles of points to represent subs/switches/fuses ect. What I do with the shapefiles is export the attributes out to create a .std for CIS and OMS. One thing that .std file has to have is the parent line information.

Is there a way in arcmap to run a process that will tell the parent/upline of each line section. I would like to think I could do it based on x, y data since the start of a line will have the same value as the end of its 'parent' line or point.

Any tips or guidance is appreciated!

Hi Carrie, thanks for your question. I am going to suggest we move this question to either this space on GeoNet Electric and Gas‌ or Managing Data‌ to help you connect with others who have knowledge of this area. Here in the Resource Hub we help members with questions on using GeoNet. Let me know which space you think would suit your question best.
