MrSid Generation 4

I was wondering if there was any plan for ArcGIS to support MrSid generation 4 for read.  I understand creating MrSid is no longer a thing in ArcGIS.  MrSid gen 4 seams to have neat things regarding multi-band images.  Lizard tech has a 3D analyst plug-in for 9.3 but they only mention terrain data.  I was wondering if there was any word on support of MrSid Gen4 in Arcmap without 3D analyst just to view the images.

You might submit an enhancement request and in the process find out if there are any plans in place.  LizardTech has released the SDK for it.

I still don't know how GDAL is implemented in Arc, but you might look into how to get it supported in GDAL and maybe the support will follow to Arc.

Esri has this enhancement request documented under NIM063903: Provide support for MrSID Generation 4 (MG4).   The implementation of the request is being targeted for the 10.1 release.
