I've created a Mosaic Dataset from rasters.  Whenever I opened the Mosaic it also displays the boundary and footprint, which I don't want displayed, as I'm loading this into a service on Arc Server.  Is it possible to permanently remove this information from the mosaic and how?

Greetings,

No, you cannot remove the footprint or boundary complete from the mosaic dataset as far as I know, but in the ArcMap options you can enable/disable if these will be displayed by default. To go there go to ArcMap Customize > options > Raster tab > mosaic dataset tab.
Does this help?

These sub layers holds essential information (like the foot prints attribute table).

If unchecking the visibility check box isn't enough you can also symbolize these layers with "no color" symbols. meaning that they will still show up in the TOC, but they won't disturb the map view.

Good idea - I give that a try.  Thanks for the ideas.

I am using a mosaic dataset to display a weather forecast and I also do not want the footprint. Is it possible to delete the sublayer after it has been created under the dataframe with python. For time enabled data, the footprint is useless and takes a lot of room in the table of content.
