Have coverage internal id's and user-id's been replaced by the geodatabase ObjectID?

Whenever I create a new Feature Class in a geodatabase I get no internal id's or user-ids only ObjectID's?

Are internal id's and user-id's needed anymore?  Feature Classes imported into a geodatabase from an ArcInfo coverage, can the internal id and user-id fields be deleted?  Whate about the FNODE, TNODE, RPOLY and LPOLY for that matter?

Technically, the column is a "registered rowid". There is no requirement that it be
named "objectid", but Desktop doesn't make it easy to name it something else
from the user interface.

The COV# and COV-ID columns were artifacts of how ArcInfo coverage topology
worked.  They are not necessary in shapefile, personal geodatabase, file geodatabase,
or ArcSDE tables, nor are FNODE#/TNODE#/LPOLY#/RPOLY#.
