Hi,

Does anyone know anyway to extract information from a raster WITHOUT using spatial analyst??? (my company doesn??t have the licence installed.....)

I have a mask ready and waiting to be applied to several raster datasets but as of yet, don??t know how I am going to do this without using the ??Extract by Mask?? function (or ??Clip?? function). I was told that GIMP may be of use but I have never used this software before?.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The Clip tool can clip a raster to a polygon and doesn't require spatial analyst.

Hi, Thank you for your reply.

In the end i had to use GIMP because clip wouldn??t work as both my origional data and mask are in raster format.

I am however now using clip to further analyse the data extracted in GIMP through the use of the mask.

(FYI: GIMP was surprisingly easy to use to apply a mask and extract the required data! It wasn??t as quick as Arc but still sufficiently did the job!)

You could just use Quantum GIS, it's completely free...
