Good evening,

I hope some of you guys are more inspired than i am to solve this issue.

I have hundreds of heavy MrSid datas i have to gather in an raster catalog. When i load any particular raster, an error message appears in the report (Error 99998) then when i check the raster catalog...the raster has been loaded . When i try to zoom on the raster or edit datas, ARCGIS Desktop crashes.

I've checked the processes happening during the load script and everything seems ok.

I have to provide this raster catalog in a few days and it already took days to upload the current (faulty) version....Quite an annoying situation.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

A few more infos. I thought it might be linked to a PYTHON/Arctoolbox issue and noticed 4 different versions are installed on this particular PC. When i try to check the System envirronments variable..... none is set for PYTHON while with ARCGIS 10 (or any other) there should be a PYTHOn and PYTHONPATH varaible.....
Does it make sense ?

Idea anyone, i'm getting desperate.

If you get a failure message during raster load, you probably shouldn't trust that it was
loaded successfully, even if something was populated.  If load failure occurs in a mosaic,
it can corrupt the entire image, but load failure for a catalog should be correctable by
deletion of the affected row(s).

If you suspect a software installation issue, it generally doesn't hurt to uninstall, then make
sure all the independent subcomponents (like Python) are also uninstalled before reinstalling.

If the problem still exists after reinstall, I suggest you post in the Imagery and Raster Data
forum next door, with as many details as you can, including the version and service pack of
software in use, the number and sizes of the source rasters, the type of geodatabase you are
using  (ArcSDE, FGDB,...), the parameters you are using for catalog creation, and the content
of your processing scripts.

When you're really stuck (especially with a deadline approaching), you should contact Tech
Support, since they're the folks who are paid to answer the phones (the folks here in the
forums are, for the most part, volunteers, so we tend to only tackle problems we've seen
before).

Thanks for your advices,Vince.

We finally discovered that the main issue was with the Raster Catalog and not the load process. We restarted from scratch with a new catalog and up to now (running for the last 4 hours) no problem or error report on load.
I still does not know what was the source of this problem and will move this topic with more details to the Raster Imagery forum when possible.

Thanks again to all
