I have a roads layer that has domains set up for the city left/right fields.  The values are numeric and the actual city names are the descriptions.

The problem is that the address locator is only using the values and therefore when you type in an address with a city name in it the locator does not find it.

Is there a way to automatically use the domain descriptions instead of the values in a locatorr?

Hello Mark

There is no way to create a locator and use domain values.  The workaround would be to dump the domain to a table and join the field you want to (say) a copy of the reference data.

Brian:

You could use the steps outlined in the following technical article to add the domain codes to the CityAliases section of the locator grammar. You would add the city name and the alternates would be the domain values, so the input address could be the city name or the domain code. 45322 - Add city aliases to the address locator style
