I have a DEM for a Hawaiian island and a layer of the amount of night light viewed from every pixel on the island. I want to calculate a shortest path from any cell in DEM the ocean, but get Arc to tell me how much light would be viewed along that path (by just adding up those light values along the way), resulting in a raster where each pixel on the island represents the quantity of viewable light along that shortest path. Does anyone have any thoughts?? It seems that all of the tools I've looked always want to calculate the least cost path with respect to light as a cost (which would avoid light). I don't want it to avoid light at all (I want it to ignore light when calculating the least-cost path), but still tell me how much light would be encountered.
