For creating Data Models from an existing SDE Geodatabase in 10.1 and SQL Server Express 2008 R2, what software or what approach would you recommend?
I have heard if you use Visio 2010 to build your model, you can link it to the SDE Geodatabase and manipulate your schema in Visio, is this even possible? I also heard using FME would be a better approach to building a Data Model from an existing SDE Geodatabase.
I have seen the Data Models on the ESRI Site, these are kind of helpful in a general sense, but I would like to create a Data Model out of my existing SDE Geodatabase, for the inner workings of our Wastewater Treatment Plant; ESRI does have a Wastewater Treatment Plant Data Model on their site, but this is way too simplistic for us to use. We have already successfully created our Geodatabase and have been using it with good results. Now all we need is to build a data model.
What are your thoughts?
