Color Balance Fails

I created a test mosaic data set in an file geodatabase and added rasters and then performed a color balance which got great results. I then moved the files to a production server and created a mosaic data set in an SDE database. I did the same steps as the test database but now when I perform the color balance it either fails and I get a generic Error 999999 (which is no help) or it runs but doesn't appear to have changed anything. We haven't upgraded the database to 10.1 just yet so I am wondering if that might be causing the problem?  If anyone has any thoughts I would love to hear them.  I have tried several different iterations of the color balance so I am out of ideas.

Thanks,
Shawny

So I have upgraded the database but it made no difference. The color balance still seems to do nothing. What doesn't make sense it that it works well in a file geo-database but I can't build overviews in a file geo-database. Not so impressed with the Mosaic dataset and this is holding up my implementation of web maps with ArcGIS server.

Hi Shawny,
Have you tried recalculating your statistics for both the mosaic dataset and individual rasters?  I'm not sure it would fix the problem, but it might be worth a shot.
