Cannot connect to ArcSDE through ArcCatalog

I am attempting to connect to an ArcSDE through ArcCatalog. Last week I was able to do this with little to know problem, but not this week. When I try to connect ArcCatalog freezes and becomes unresponsive rather than providing an error. I am logging in with the same credentials as before. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be happening?

For what it's worth, all of my ArcServer applications are now blank as well. I can access them, but there does not appear to be any layers or data within the services.

What versions of software are you using?  What database?  Are you using application server
or Direct Connect connections?  Is the database otherwise responsive?  Has there been a
power loss?  Have you tried restarting the servers and/or services?

I managed to solve the issue, but could not figure out how to delete the thread. Thanks for your response though.
