Does anyone know how an AutoCAD Civil 3D pipe network can be brought into GIS?  When I preview polylines of a .dwg that has a pipe network, they don't make any sense.  I was just wondering if anyone else had experience with this and if there is a solution out there.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Matthew,

ArcMap reads the pipe network created in Civil 3D the same way AutoCAD reads it. Since these are Civil 3D custom objects, they aren't being read as they should be.

Alternatively, you can use Civil 3D export command and export it to AutoCAD 2010 format. You will be able to view the geometry and text correctly, but they will no longer be custom objects.
