Hello!  I see in the documentation that Oracle 11.2.03 is not compatible with ArcSDE.  Does anyone have any details about this?  Our IT upgraded their Oracle, and we're looking for a way to support them.  Our GIS is in SQL Server, and in the past, we have replicated some datasets to Oracle for their use.  Looks like they may be out of luck... any input is welcome.  Thanks!

How did you determine that Oracle 11.2.0.3 was "not compatible" with ArcGIS?

The Oracle ArcSDE requirements omit reference to 11.2.03, mentioning up only to a known bug with 11.2.02.  I think "not supported" would be a better choice of words on my part.

Even "not supported" is too strong.  "Not certified" is the correct designation, which
means that extensive certification testing was not performed.  The requirements
page links to the supported environment policy page.

I see, thanks.  Well, then this has become a different post.  Upon attempting to install SDE on Oracle 11.2.03, we receive an error (attached) which seemed to support the theory.  ArcSDE is at version 10, SP 3.

That error message has nothing to do with Oracle release.  It refers to the
geodatabase itself.  What version of ArcSDE is installed in the database?

ArcSDE is at version 10, SP 3.  In researching the error message, I find the common theme is an incompatibility between the ArcSDE version and the ArcCatalog version.  That is not the case here.  So it didn't seem like too much of a stretch to suppose the Oracle client could be causing a similar error.  Thanks for the interest; I'm up to give anything a shot.

What Oracle release had IT been using before installing 11.2.0.3?  If it was 10gR2,
then an upgrade would still be necessary.

BTW: There isn't much call for 10.0 SP3 when SP5 is current and SP4 would permit
10.1 interoperability.

Prior to 11.2.0.3, IT was on 10.2.0.3.  Thank you for the tip on versions; SP4 introduced a bug we couldn't live with, SP5 fixed it, but we're waiting for IT to have time to push the update to our clients before we schedule the databases.

So there is room to upgrade -- You need to execute geodatabase upgrade procedure (via
ArcCatalog or Python) using an 11g client (as SDE, with the necessary permissions) to install
the 11g geodatabase stored procedures.
