Arcscan with Basemap

Hi!

I need to digitize a number of lakes, and set out doing so with ArcScan and the topographic basemap from ArcGIS Online.

So far, I do not have a raster map of the lakes apart from the basemap - and therefore I cannot use ArcScan. Is there a way to use ArcScan directly on the topographic basemap?

Greetings!

ArcScan only works on Raster layers that are symbolized as two-color images. Topographic base map from ArcGIS online is a Map Service and hence can't be used in with ArcScan.
