Newbie question - Is there a way to instantiate PostgreSQL for use with ArcGIS Desktop in a comparable way to ArcSDE Personal with SQL Express? I would like to be able to view and edit. I've been combing online resources and the bulk of topics relate to Enterprise installations. _________________________ ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2 version: 10.2.0.3348 license: Advanced PostgreSQL 9.2 PostGIS 2.0 Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 _________________________
No. ArcGIS Server is the only way to obtain a PostgreSQL-based geodatabase. You can, however, use Query Layers without a PG geodatabase, but editing would have to be via SQL in an ODBC/JDBC connection.
