Hi everyone
I'm trying to add huge number of raster datasets to Mosaic Dataset. I'm having ArcGIS 10 SP3, Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. When in the raster subfolder is huge number (more than 50) of raster datasets, the adding them always crashes in the specific part, then he is trying to make overviews.
Totally I have 2500 tif raster datasets (8-bit, 3 band) in 14 subfolders what i'm trying to add to the mosaic dataset. They are not covering each other.

It wasn't so in SP2, but now after installing SP3, it crashes. Maybe the problem is there.

Best Regards

Are you saying when adding the raster dataset to the mosaic dataset, it always crashes on the same raster. When you say crash, is the application (ArcMap) crashing, or does it just stop adding data to the mosaic dataset?
If it's just stoping or hanging at the same spot, I would first assume there is something unusual about the raster dataset that is being added. Find out the last raster dataset added then look at the next one in the folder to see if you can open it and/or see if there is something wrong with it.

We solved the problem. The solution was to calculate statistics to the raster datasets. The process (adding rasters to mosaic) crashed every time, when he tried to load the raster without statistics.
