Clean geometry like clean-command in ArcInfo-Workstation

As long as the clean command is not implemented with comparable functionality, missing an important building block to produce accurate geometries. Maybe the tool "Repair" can be extended.

What is the modern equivalent to ArcInfo CLEAN?

I recently discovered the Integrate command myself as referenced also in the link above, and found it useful for cleaning up badly digitized polygons (overlaps, gaps):

The ability to flatten polygons without having to click on each overlap is necessary.  The coverage dataset only allowed overlaps using regions.  We need this data structure back, I can't do my work without it.
