TTT Training Workshop, Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, 2016

TTT Training Workshop, Universidad de los Andes, Colombia,  2016

Dates:  TTT Training - ArcGIS for Environmental Analysis January 25-29 and Advanced Topics for ArcGIS, February 1-5 at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota.  This was sponsored by the university as a continuing education class, where they advertised the class for a fee in order to pay for the course. The university paid me a $2,500 fee and covered lodging and meals.  There were 41 students total for both classes.  (Photo Below – Students at the end of the last class.)   xHistory xTTT

TTT Trainees: The two trainees were Federico Germán Riet Sapriza, a 2012 Scholar from Uruguay who was the primary local organizer and was teaching biology at the university at that time; and Nicolás Lois, also a 2012 Scholar, from Argentina. Additional Presentations:  I was invited by people from ESRI Colombia, in cooperation with the university, to do a presentation on Creating Map Books with Data Driven Pages but that had to be cancelled due to high air pollution levels because of forest fires.  Here is an email, slightly edited, from the organizer at ESRI Colombia:

"Dear John :   WHAT A CRAZY WEEK ¡!!! -

Mountains burning and the city “smoked” . I was planned to attend on Thursday to your presentation ……..obviously cancelled. We have a big debt with you because we are very happy that UNIANDES could do that training in a such successful way.

Will you be in Palm Springs? We hope to see you there and say THANK YOU TO COME TO COLOMBIA, TO UNIANDES !”…….

 Very special regards,

Marta Inés  Cifuentes Andrade| Directora de Mercadeo y Alianzas

Esri Colombia | Carrera 12 No. 90-20 piso 6 | Bogotá"

Funding:  TTT costs were $3,250 and came from the funding that Esri provided.

Juniper Contribution:  10 days of training; 5 days of prep; 5 days of working with Trainees
