The SCGIS Global Program
is proud to present our 2020 International Scholarship Finalists. 2020 will be a smaller program as we continue to rebuild our curriculum & technology to better support the advanced capabilities of ArcGIS Pro, and the recent paradigm shift from IT-heavy enterprise servers to mobile-oriented collaborative field GIS tools readily adopted & configured by novices, such as the new ArcGIS Solutions for Conservation. As in past years, the primary sponsors & donors for 2020 are Esri, the University of California Davis, and Juniper GIS.
70 highly qualified activists & scientists from over 30 countries were reviewed by a global team of 32 reviewers from 25 national chapters, mentors and large Conservation NGO organizations. The Global Scholar Finalists group below represents the best of the best of conservationists using geography and GIS to pursue effective science, educate and change local communities, and discover new ways of protecting species. In prior years of greater funding & support this finalist list often exceeded 30 scientists & activists, but funding and training shortages limited the 2020 program to only 12 finalists. Accordingly, we have added a new award category consisting of software, training & SCGIS membership to honor another 20 individuals who also showed outstanding work in the application process. This category is called the "Scgis International Committee Conservation Software Honors" or "International Honors" for short. You can see the list of these honorees following the Global Scholar Finalists below.
