The Conference Camera/News team had its origins back in 2013 or so when we had an idea that the annual talks of the SCGIS Conference ought to be saved and recorded somehow for the benefit of members and scholars, especially those in smaller countries with less access to science resources. Charles Convis had been photographing and filming these annual meetings of conservation GIS users since 1992, before SCGIS even began. In 2013 it began to become a more organized effort with plenty of learning, hurdles and failures, and by 2015 the first complete conference proceedings were finally published. This work continued as a one-person struggle beyond any appropriate measure of sanity until the idea of creating a new committee or team to tackle the work was offered in 2018 and the Scgis News Team was born.
