The value: Esri Community hosts many Places and User Groups spread across different categories, and an even greater number of Boards are distributed among them. This can make locating the best spot to post a comment, share an idea, or explore specific resources a challenge when relying on traditional navigation. Using Esri Community’s “PLACES” filter in the search dashboard instead can make the process a snap.

How to do it: Using the Esri Community search bar wherever available, enter a name relevant to the Place, User Group, or Board you’re looking for (e.g.- a product name) and search by pressing “enter” or selecting the magnifying glass icon. In the resulting search dashboard, select the “PLACES” category filter. Choose your desired location from the results.

Keep in Mind: When using the "PLACES" filter, either the exact name or a full word(s) from the name of the Place, User Group, or Board you’re looking for must be used. Partial or misspelled words may lead to zero search results. Example: While filtering by PLACES, “ArcGIS Pro Ideas,” “ArcGIS Pro,” “ArcGIS,” and “Pro” will all turn up relevant results—some returning a larger list of matches than others. “ArcPro,” “ArcGIS Pr” and “Pro Id” are a few examples of searches that will fail to make any matches.

Esri Community’s search tool is also designed to suggest matches while entering in your keywords. If launching your search from the Esri Community home page level (which references all public data within the platform), you may find that the Place, User Group, or Board you’re looking for appears on a list of recommendations just below the search bar momentarily after typing.
