The value: When Document posts are saved as a draft, it may not be evident where that draft lives once the author is ready to continue working with it. A completed draft may also be saved in the Documents Dashboard until someone else reviews it as part of an approval workflow. Knowing where to locate that draft is an important step in completing the process of creation through publication.
How to do it: Navigate to the Document Board you had saved your post draft to. Click the vertical ellipsis located just above the Subscribe/Unsubscribe button and select “Knowledge Base Article Dashboard” from the list of dropdown options. From the dashboard, click the title of your draft post and choose to either “Edit” it or “Submit for Review” on the subsequent screen. Esri staff and Esri Community MVPs have the additional options: “Publish” and “Schedule Publication,” as do User Group Owners within their own group(s).
How to locate the Document Dashboard where unpublished drafts are stored.
Keep in Mind: Documents are different from Blogs and allow permissioned users to create posts that serve as a living document and can be collaboratively updated by multiple people. Collaborators and edits are tracked within each document post to provide a record of changes over time. Examples of good topics for Documents include how-to guides, policy outlines, workflows, training materials, or lists of known issues that will be updated over time.
While only Esri staff and Esri Community MVPs can publish Document posts in Places, other members can contribute Document posts in User Groups that they have joined.
