Heat radiates from the racetrack beneath lap after lap of screaming tires. Muscles gasp from carrying urgent legs back and forth across the court. Mental exertion shows on glistening foreheads while struggling to counter opponents’ every move.

Hallmarks of competition take their own shape here in Esri Community as we’ve crossed the halfway mark in the annual Esri Community Contest: steadily rising numbers of accepted solutions, posts created, and other measured forms of participation. Now our team is digging into the data to see who’s currently closing in on our prize packages … and perhaps more coveted, the glory of victory.

For a refresher on full contest details, see Announcing the 2022 Esri Community Contest.

As the tallies stand, these members grapple for the top three spots in each category:

Elite Level (MVPs)

@jcarlson (178 solutions)
@DanPatterson (139 solutions)
@JohannesLindner (103 solutions)
@JayantaPoddar (59 solutions)

Rising Star

@Bud
@RobertBorchert
@wayfaringrob
@ABishop
@KimberlyGarbade

Newcomer of the Year

@Ed_
@ArmstKP
@GregoireS
@Lindsay
@JadedEarth

With a full five months remaining, there’s no projecting what will happen.

Could these lists wildly reconfigure in a shifting leaderboard square dance? Could patiently pacing-themselves underdogs rocket to the top? Or could new members with some full-throttle magic up their sleeves emerge to uproarious cheers? Absolutely, yes.

What we do know for certain is that our team thoroughly enjoys running this friendly competition and that we’re grateful for the valuable member contributions it reflects. Join us in cheering on these GIS athletes and best of luck to everyone pursuing a top spot during this second half!

hmmmm

I thought Community was about helping, not contests, that should be the prize ... well maybe the odd hat

😉

The real treasure is the friends we make along the way 🙂

Point taken, @DanPatterson, and of course you’re correct: Nothing has truly changed about the nature of this contest from how we’ve run it in the past except for the injection of a little dramatic word smithery for fun’s sake. The real purpose continues to be one modest way for our team to draw a little grateful attention towards members who’ve managed to make a standout mark in Esri Community by the sum of their contributions. But we do genuinely know that those contributions don’t come from a place of prize-seeking; that the work is done out of a dedication to GIS and helping others. Thank you, as always, for being one of those members who continually examples that high level of generous participation!

May they be as numerous as data points on a map, @JohannesLindner!

@Ed_, I'm pulling on my apron right now and digging out the mixer. One saucer-sized chocolate chip cookie coming right up! ❤️😉
