I recently edited the pop-up configuration of the web map that feeds my map journal. The web map functions and looks fine when I view it alone, but when I view it through my map journal, it says "Something went wrong the map did not load correctly".
I have tried editing my map journal and re-pointing the main stage to the web map, but it just sits there saying "loading" until if finally just bails out.
Any ideas?
All of the other instances that reference the web map in the map journal are also not functioning, and have lost their custom location configurations and labels.
Here is the map journal:http://www.iqmap.org/storymaps/map-journal/cob/index.html?appid=c36de675c0154899accf20641f432d86&sec...
and here is the web map that is supposed to be showing/functioning:

attached is a pic of the "loading" stallout when I try to edit the mainstage:

Strange error, not sure what's happening but if I use your appid with the latest version of Map Journal I can't reproduce the issue (http://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapJournal/?appid=c36de675c0154899accf20641f432d86). Could you try updating to version V1.4.1 Esri/map-journal-storytelling-template-js · GitHub

Ahhh...interesting and maybe a clue. We transferred over the map journal to host on our server (iqmap) to implement a few things (adding locate me button, changing mobile view text from "back to map" to "back to image". (http://www.iqmap.org/storymaps/map-journal/cob/index.html?appid=c36de675c0154899accf20641f432d86 )
There wasn't really a way to get rid of the old map journal hosted on arcgis online (http://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapJournal/?appid=c36de675c0154899accf20641f432d86). which is the one you are viewing and doesn't have the issues...
So, seems to me the problem lies with the customization in our template?
And how/where did you located the older map journal? the arcgis.com map journal as opposed to the iqmap.org map journal?
Got you.
When you have created your Map Journal, an item in ArcGIS Online has been created under the ID that is present in your URL
http://www.iqmap.org/storymaps/map-journal/cob/index.html?appid=c36de675c0154899accf20641f432d86
The Map Journal in ArcGIS Online will always "exist". The ID basically store your data and the application that you deployed on your server will read those, as well as the one in ArcGIS Online.
I tried using an oldest version of Map Journal and I can reproduce the issue so it's not your customization. If you update to the latest version through GitHub and reapply your customization it should works as well as the one in Online.
Note that you don't have to keep the ID in the URL, you can put in in index.html so your URL will be more simple (see step 3 at Esri/map-journal-storytelling-template-js · GitHub)
Ok thanks! We will update the template next week when our administrator is back. In the meantime I have reverted our links on various sites to the arcgis.com map journal so that it works in the meantime.
We usually hide the long ugly urls. Most people access the map journal from www.cob.org/historytours , but good to know the shortcut on the index.html , that will make direct linking much easier!
Thanks for all your help!!!
